HOW TO CREATE AN ECOMMERCE WEBSITE USING BIGCOMMRECE

BigCommerce gives you the power to build your own online shopping experience. All you need to start building an online store with BigCommerce is a store name (which you can change at any time if you want to). Once you’ve got that, you can go ahead and choose a hosting plan based on how many different products you want to sell.

1. CREATE YOUR OWN STORE

The next step is to give BigCommerce some details about yourself and what you intend to sell. Most of the choices are fairly self – explanatory, and your page will look like this:

Just a quick reminder, if this is your first eCommerce shop, you can pick New to eCommerce from the final selection list (Pick Experience Level). Once you’ve done everything, press Build My Shop at the bottom of the page. It might take a few minutes for the device to create your store in the background. If everything goes to plan, you’ll see the “Yay, your store is ready” message and the “Visit your store” icon

2. BIGCOMMERCE OVERVIEW

To go to your account dashboard, click Visit your store button. Here you will see a list of tasks that BigCommerce has completed on your behalf. Below is a list of tasks for you to get up and running:

The important parts of this page are:

  • View Site & Notification Icons (top, center-right) – provides the administrator ‘s view of the site as it appears live, plus the account updates.
  • Account Email Address (top, right) – allows you to change your name, password, and login
  • Help (bottom, left) – enables access to support services (discussed below)
  • Settings (bottom, left) – set up your account & store for everything from payment and tax, account info, advanced store features and server configuration.
  • Orders, Products, Customers (menu, left) – manage the store’s business end, including setting up product categories and options, ordering shipments, and more.
  • Marketing (menu, left) – explore various forms of marketing and advertising, including email marketing.
  • Analytics (menu, left) – understand the behavior of the visitor on your platform, including abandonment of the cart

It’s a good idea to bookmark this page as you’re going to use it all the time. Even once the setup process of the store has been completed, this page also provides a great summary of how well the store is doing–sales, orders, earnings, etc.

3. DESIGN YOUR STORE

Now you can go ahead and create a template for your shop. Select Settings, and then choose Design from the Shop Setup Column to bring up the collection template page:
